What is a bubble letter generator?
A bubble letter generator turns typed text into puffy, rounded letters with an outline you can color in. Type your word, pick a style from Bubble, Puffy cute, Chunky, Graffiti, 3D bubble, 3D block, Cartoon, Retro or Outline, and the letters appear right away. Download the result as a PNG for sharing, a PDF for printing on US Letter or A4 paper with 0.5-inch margins, or an SVG for editing and cutting machines. Everything is drawn in your browser, so it is instant and free, and you do not need an account. The letters are outlines on a white page, which makes them ideal for coloring in with markers, crayons or colored pencils. Teachers and parents use it for name signs, banners and classroom labels.

How to make bubble letters online

Enter a word, a name or a short phrase. Short words give the biggest letters on the page.

Pick the right bubble letter style
All nine styles are drawn as outlines so they can be colored in. Here is how they tend to be used:
| Style | Looks like | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Bubble | Classic round letters | Names, signs, first-time use |
| Puffy cute | Soft, pillowy shapes | Little kids, birthday banners |
| Chunky | Thick, wide strokes | Easy coloring for ages 3–5 |
| Graffiti | Bold with attitude | Teens, posters, notebook covers |
| 3D bubble | Rounded with depth | Titles and covers |
| 3D block | Straight edges with depth | Sports, space, signs |
| Cartoon | Playful and bouncy | Party decorations |
| Retro | Throwback shapes | Posters, door signs |
| Outline | Thin outline only | Calligraphy-style coloring, older kids |
How to color bubble letters so they look good
The classic look comes from a few simple habits. Try them once and kids tend to copy them right away.
- Pick two or three colors for the whole word, and one darker color for the shadow.
- Color the inside of each letter with light, even strokes in one direction.
- Leave a small white shine spot near the top left of each letter.
- Trace the outline last with a darker marker or a black fine-tip pen.
Printing tips
- Use the PDF for printing. It is set up for 0.5-inch margins on Letter or A4.
- Print at 100% scale. Fit to page can shrink the letters.
- Use cardstock if you plan to cut the letters out for a banner.
- Need a bigger letter than the page allows? Use SVG, which scales without losing sharpness.
For a poster-size word, generate each letter as its own page and tape the pages together.
Ideas for parents, teachers and parties
Parents
Make a bedroom door sign with your child’s name, or a bubble letter note for a lunchbox. A short name in Chunky style fills a page nicely.
Teachers
Use bubble letters for bulletin board titles, word wall words and welcome signs. For class-wide name pages, try the name coloring pages tool, which makes up to 30 at once.
Parties
Spell out Happy Birthday and the guest of honor’s name, then color the letters as a party activity and hang them as a banner.
Small tricks for neater letters
- Short words are bigger. A four-letter name fills a page better than a ten-letter name.
- Use Chunky for toddlers, because the wide shapes are forgiving.
- Try Outline when you want to add your own patterns inside the letters, such as stripes, dots or zigzags.
- Test two styles for the same word and keep both. One for the door sign, one for the card.
If you are making letters for a banner, print each letter on a separate page and cut along the outline. Punch two holes at the top and thread string through to hang them.
Free, private and quick
The generator draws everything in your browser. Your text is not sent to a server, there is no account to create, and there is no watermark. Downloads are yours to print for home, classroom and personal use. This tool is for parents, teachers and adults and is not directed to children under 13.
Bubble letters and bubble fonts
People search for bubble fonts, bubble letters and bubble letter makers, and they usually want the same thing: puffy, rounded lettering that looks friendly. A bubble font is a typeface you install and type with. Bubble letters, as made here, are outlined shapes you can color in or cut out.
That difference matters for printing. A typeface in a word processor usually comes out as solid black shapes, while an outline on white leaves room for crayons and markers. Because this tool exports SVG as well as PNG and PDF, you can also open the letters in design software and change the stroke or fill.
Whichever style you pick, check the preview for spacing before you download. Short words with a similar letter width look the most balanced.
Frequently asked questions
