Ideas for the leaf templates
- Thankful tree: kids write one thing they are thankful for on each leaf and tape it to a paper tree trunk.
- Fall wreath: trace 12–16 leaves on red, orange and yellow cardstock and glue them around a paper plate ring.
- Leaf rubbings: cut the template from cardboard, lay paper on top and rub with the side of a crayon.
- Classroom bulletin board: one large maple leaf per student with their name in bubble letters.
- Window decorations: trace on tissue paper or contact paper for see-through leaves.
Printing at the right size
Each shape is drawn so its longest side is exactly the size you pick. In the print dialog choose “Actual size” or “100%” — not “Fit to page” — or the shapes will shrink slightly. Large sizes print one leaf per page; small sizes fill the page with copies so one sheet makes a whole set.

Frequently asked questions
What size should leaf templates be for a wreath?
For a paper-plate wreath, 3–4 inch (8–10 cm) leaves work best; for a bulletin board or a thankful tree, 5–6 inch (12–15 cm) leaves leave room for writing.
Can I print the leaves on colored paper or cardstock?
Yes — the outlines are thin black lines, so they print well on colored paper and cardstock. Use cardstock if you want reusable tracing templates.
Are the templates free for classroom use?
Yes, print as many copies as you like for home, classroom or library use.
